Relationship=Great-granduncle of Jesse Crumley.
Louis Blair was born in 1885 at Kentucky.1 He - Lewis Blair was a trapper who with his partner, Charles Lathrop, has a place in Washington State History for having been murdered by the "Wild Man of Wynoochee", John Tornow. Deputized Civilian Blair and Deputized Civilian Charles Lathrop were shot and killed while attempting to arrest the murderer of Deputies Colin M'Kenzie and Albert Elmer. Deputy M'Kenzie and Deputy Elmer were shot and killed 13 months earlier. After murdering the two deputies the man hid in the woods in the Satsop / Wynoochee Valley area. In April (of) 1913 the man ambushed a posse that had information he was in a cabin in the area. As they approached the cabin the man opened fire from the woods, killing Deputized Civilian Blair and Deputized Civilian Lathrop. Other posse members returned fire and killed the suspect. The Blair family has always believed that there was far more to this story than meets the eye. They believe that Louis and Charles were far too savey to have walked into such an ambush and there were inconsistancys in the story told by the "Other Posse Members" which was actually only one man - Deputy Sheriff Quimby who as a result of Louis and Charles' deaths did not have to share the $3000 reward with anyone.2 He was the son of Joseph C. Blair and Charlotte Hall.1 Louis Blair appeared on the census of 14 June 1900 in the household of Joseph C. Blair and Eva G. (?) at Beaver, Taney County, Missouri.3 Louis Blair appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 in the household of Joseph C. Blair and Eva G.
