Preston Blair Story by Bobby Frost Fisher (See Frost, Blair Family Connection Family Trees - Ancestry.com) My g.g.grandfather. While visiting the Blair ridge in Kentucky. We drove to the top of the hill where the Preston Blair house originally stood. The house no longer stands. This was now the property of Lillie O. Blair. We sat under the huge tree in the front yard as Lillie O. talked of Prestons life there on the ridge. He was a teacher /farmer. During the civil war, he took his family and hid them in a cave for the winter. He made shoes for his family. Nellie was expecting and they prepared for the event while in the cave. Marauders had attacked them at their home and he was jousted. This is an act of surrounding him on horse back and whipping a cape around him until he couldn't stand and doing it some more. While they took what they wanted. Marauders were groups that came in uniform or not and terroized, stole, burned homes, etc. after the civil war. Preston and Nellie Blair had a large family and were well respected and loved by the ones that remember them.3 He was born in 1827 at Kentucky.1 He was the son of John Robertson Blair and Elizabeth Harrison.1,2 Preston Blair married Ellender Nelly Adams on 4 March 1849 at Letcher County, Kentucky.4,5 Preston Blair and Ellender Nelly Adams appeared on the census of 21 July 1850 at District 1, Letcher County, Kentucky.6 Preston Blair appeared on the census of 1860 at Whitesburg, Letcher County, Kentucky.7 He and Ellender Nelly Adams appeared on the census of 19 July 1870 at District 3, Letcher County, Kentucky.8
